A Walk Down Memory Lane - Virtually
June 24th, 2008 3:25 PM

Google has introduced a new feature to their mapping system. It's called Street View. Basically a car with cameras all around it drives up and down roads a records what it sees at street level. Wat this means is you can plug in a address on google maps, click street view, and it will show you what it looks like. It's pretty cool. You can tilt the angle of the photo and move up and down the street, it's amazing!

They haven't done the entire country yet but I've heard reports they are working on Seattle. They have already done Portland, OR and other cities. I typed in the address to a house when we lived in Las Vegas and it was a trip down memory lane to see how the neighborhood and house had changed. I also looked at my brother's house in South Carolina, and my friend in NYC. Try it out!

New Cell Phone Law Starts Tuesday!
June 27th, 2008 9:59 PM

Starting on July 1st, 2008 cell phone drivers in the state of Washington are in for a big change! A hands free device will be required while driving.

The good news is it's only a secondary offense for now. What that means is you can not be pulled over just for using your hand held cell phone but if you are violating another law while on your hand held cell phone you can get fined for it.

S'mores anyone??
June 26th, 2008 4:32 PM

With summer officially here, my family and I love to sit in our backyard with friends and family and hang out together. We had our backyard finished last summer, so one the things we like to do it start fires and cook s'mores! What better dinner than s'mores...come to think of it, what better breakfast than s'mores.  I mean, how can you resist roasted marshmallows along with melted chocolate??

Well, please excuse me while I head outside and start the campfire :-)

Tomorrow's Flag Day
June 13th, 2008 2:18 PM

Tomorrow is Flag Day! This holiday isn't really celebrated but our flag is such an important piece of our culture! I love that sporting events still make our national anthem part of their pre-game/match/race celebration. I love when people show respect and remove their hats at the raising of the flag and singing of the national anthem.

When I was in grade school I went to a year round school (we didn't have summer vacations) so we always had a big flag day celebration. I still remember the story of Betsy Ross and always know that flag day is coming.

So take a moment to remember our flag and what it symbolizes tomorrow!

Save Money on Gas
June 8th, 2008 10:23 PM

Everyone around the water cooler is taking about the price of gas these days. You may have heard of gasbuddy.com but if you haven't here's the deal.

You go to gasbuddy.com and you can search for the lowest price of gas by city, zip code or state. They will tell you the station and the address and the price. I looked at the Seattle area and the lowest price at that time was the Costco in Marysville at 4.08 a gallon. The lowest price for the entire state of WA was 3.92 in Wapato (not quite sure where that is in all honesty!). Oregon's lowest was 3.97 and Idaho had 3.65.

I don't think this takes into account reward cards like Fred Meyer Gas and Safeway Gas etc where you get additional money off the posted price. It's a good little tool to check and save you some money.
