An Amazing Gift!
May 1st, 2008 12:37 PM

In life, sometimes you learn lessons where you least expect. I have always had a spot in my heart for those with disabilities, and watching this video showed me that this young man chose to look past his disability and focus on what he is truly gifted at. This video will inspire you and give you hope that your dreams can come true.

Summer Vacations!
May 22nd, 2008 1:06 PM

School is almost out and it's time to make some vacation plans! It's always interesting to me to hear where people decide to go on vacation. Most people don't get much paid vacation time so it's a big decision. One of my friends is spending 10 days on a boat in Canada, another rented a house on the beach at Grayland, WA and another is visiting family.

We usually just visit family but this year our family decided to go on vacation too so we rented a house in Sunriver, OR (near Bend). A lot of people have vacationed at Sunriver, I even heard commercials for there right before we left. Personally, I didn't see what all the hype was about. The house was wonderful and they had bike trails everywhere but past that it wasn't that exciting. I didn't see any grass (green or otherwise) it was all pine needles and pine cones. There was only one park inside Sunriver and both pools were closed for the week. The weather was really nice but the river water was freezing cold. My husband did manage to play some golf and I went to the tiny outlet mall. We did the High Desert Museum and Lava Land but the Lava Caves were closed. After 4 days we left and went camping in western Oregon. It was great spending time with family but next year I'd rather go to the beach!

We have a family dog and she wasn't able to stay at the vacation house so she stayed behind in a dog boarding facility. It's not your average boarding place, the dogs get their own room with full wall and a heated floor. They get plenty of social time with other dogs and it's great for family dogs. It's called Doggy Haven Resort and is in North Bothell off 180th and Hwy 9.

Get Out Of Debt Tips
May 8th, 2008 1:39 PM

Dave Ramsey is a financial advisor who gives advice in a very casual way to help people get out of debt. He has his own TV show on FOX where people can call in, give their story, and then he offers suggestions to help them get out of debt. He also has a radio show on AM stations (I can't remember the station for Seattle). Anyway, here are his 7 basic tips to get out of debt.

  1. $1,000 to start an Emergency Fund
  2. Pay off all debit using the debt snowball
  3. 3 to 6 months of expenses in savings
  4. Invest 15% of household income into Roth IRA’s and pre-tax retirement
  5. College funding for the children
  6. Pay off home early
  7. Build wealth and give!

If you go to his website he'll go more into detail on each step. It may sound overwhelming but at least it's a start and you know where your money is going!
