The Evergreen State Fair is full of fun and it starts August 21! There is a full line up of activities, concerts, and events so make sure you check the daily schedule so you don't miss a thing! The fair runs through Labor Day weekend and FYI, if you have a Entertainment Book use the coupon for 1 free adult admission!

Happy Labor Day!
August 30th, 2008 7:22 PM

It's Labor Day weekend! I hope you weren't one of those poor people that thought you could get out of town early and avoid the traffic but realized everyone else had that same idea so instead yiou sat in traffic for hours, I hate to tell you I told you so!

My family and I love camping but took a vow several years ago to never travel or camp on a holiday weekend. It's not worth it for us to sit in traffic and have crowded campgrounds. We actually go camping the second or third week of September because by then our favorite campsites have opened up.

There are several amazing campgrounds in Washington State but one of my all time favorites is Grayland State Park. It's on the other side of the water from Ocean Shores and only about a 3 hour drive from Seattle. Grayland is great because the newer loop has large campsites and the ones that back to the ocean have private paths over the sand dunes to the beach.

Whatever you did this holiday weekend I hope you had fun, even if you were sitting in traffic!

Is there a formula for success?
August 5th, 2008 9:35 AM

"God didn't give you the discernment to make right decisions all the time. He did, however, give you the ability to make wrong decisions right."

I have always been an avid reader of nonfiction books, particularly books that deal with getting the most out of life. One of the books I have read a couple times, and continue to get more and more out of, is Mastering the Seven Decisions that Determine Personal Success. Written by Andy Andrews, this is a very insightful book that peers into the lives of successful individuals, showcasing common decisions these people made and are making to carve their own path in life.

Decision #1: The responsible Decision: The buck stops here. What Andy noticed in each of the people he studied and wrote about, is that they took responsibility for the decisions they made.Whether right or wrong, it was their decision, and they accepted accountability for it. Now, this doesn't mean they always made the right decision. On the contrary, I don't think this is even the point. Consider Thomas Edison: He once responded on the notion that he failed 10,000 times in creating the light bulb by saying, "I didn't fail! I merely discovered 10,000 ways on how NOT to make a light bulb"!

You must come to the self realization that even though you couldn't’t control any of the crazy things that have happened in your life, your choices in response to those things are what have led you down this path. Maybe you made some choices you did not like. The game, once we realize this, then becomes simple: make better choices to lead us to a place in life we want to be. Make choices you do like.

Be sure to check in later to hear about the other decisions.

Time For Some Fun
August 2nd, 2008 8:18 PM

After the crazy fall like weather we've had in Seattle the last couple of days I think it's time for some fun! I hear the weather is suppose to get a lot better in the next few days.
