Puyallup Fair Concerts!
September 17th, 2008 1:03 PM

I'm not a fair person, lots of people, animals, fried foods are just not my thing. But the concert line up for the Puyallup Fair is pretty good! I couldn't believe all the people they get to come.

The fair is half over so you've already missed Kid Rock, Casting Crowns, Orange County Choppers, and Fergie but still to come are Carrie Underwood, Michael W Smith/Steven Curtis Chapman, Doodlebops, and Pro Rodeo just to name a few. The greatest part of concerts being at the fair, you can hear them while waiting in line for rides and you didn't need to buy a ticket!

Check out thefair.com for schedules and prices.

Perfect Time of Year For This!
September 30th, 2008 1:32 PM

The weather in Seattle has been amazing in the last week. Nice and sunny in the daytime and then it cools off when the sun goes down which is perfect weather for a campfire.

After dinner last night we all headed down to the firepit and sat around the fire and roasted marshmallows and ate s'mores. It was so wonderful to sit back and watch the campfire and be entertained by the kids telling stories and playing with their shadows and not by the TV. Then the sugar of the marshmallows kicked in and the kids started running around but boy did they fall asleep fast when it was time for bed.

It's suppose to be nice tonight and wednesday so if you have a firepit get out and use it or go to a park and use the ones there. It's a inexpensive family outing and a break for the normal everyday routine!

TiVo Makes Me Watch Less TV
September 24th, 2008 12:47 PM

We've had a TiVo type device in our house for awhile now. It's also called a DVR or a PVR. Since we got in we actually watch less TV now. If you don't have one it really is must!

Basically you tell the unit to record a show, you can tell it to record it one time or set up a series recording. Then whenever that show comes on the unit will automatically record it for you and you can watch it whenever you have time.

No more sitting around and waiting for a show to come on or getting upset because your grandma called during the premiere of something. The unit lets you pause live tv, rewind it, and all sorts of stuff. We NEVER watch live tv now, it takes to long. We watch recorded shows, fast forward through commercials, and only watch what we want. It's pretty cool and not that expensive!

Change Can Be Frustrating
September 15th, 2008 1:31 PM

I don't make the decisions in our house about technology. I like technology but at the same time I kind of like the old fashioned way of doing things. I hate the microwave, it were up to me I'd get rid of it. But on the other hand I don't see the point of having a home phone anymore, my cell phone is always with me.

The latest change in our household is our cable provider. Besides the 4 workers and over 4 hours it took to instal the new system it came with a completely different channel line up. All the channels I knew are now in different places and I have to hunt all over to find them. Is it really that hard for the cable systems to get together and figure out a dewy decimal system for the tv channels?

Once I get it down it will be fine. I don't know why we have so many channels and yet there's still nothing on. I think Bruce Springsteen needs to update his song from the '90's "57 channels and there's nothing on..."

It's Back To School Time!!!
September 9th, 2008 7:06 PM

It's that time of year again, when kids go back to school. This time of year is always happy and sad. I'm happy to get back into a routine and have the kids see all their friends from school again and learning new things from their teacher. I'm sad to see how much they've grown and how many clothes don't fit anymore. After spending the summer in shorts and sandals it's a surprise to see things too small now.

New school year means new rules, new teacher, maybe even a new school. It also means we need to watch our speed when kids are around and allow extra time in case your route to work includes following a school bus!

Happy fall everyone!!!!!!!!!!!!
